    1. Most programs begin the first or second week in June and then go 8 to 10 weeks from that date. (MRSEC varies by the individual.)
    2. Month by month

                                                             v.      May—preparation in earnest, gather materials

(you just can’t believe how much there is to do.  Be sure to get a helper, even an undergrad. See time-line and packet lists)

  2. Other recruiting
    1. NEAGEP does extensive traveling to accomplish this for their program. Other programs need to set up their systems without interfering with their efforts, but somehow following in their footsteps.
    2. HBCUs and Minority Serving Institutions: at the very least, to do a mailing to them. (I found calling and emailing helpful.  It always helps to have a personal connection.  We might ought make a database of connections (if you’re willing to share).
