Research Compliance

Welcome to the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) . We oversee all research compliance related requirements under one coordinated unit. Policies, procedures, and guidelines are designed to support the responsible and ethical conduct of university research and to ensure adherence to all laws and regulations guiding research. We recognize the increasing burden of compliance requirements on researchers and work to provide assistance to decrease this burden wherever possible.

Major areas of compliance responsibilities include:

 

Compliance staff serve as liaisons between Institutional officials who have oversight over compliance issues committees that monitor and oversee state and federally-regulated research activities and the faculty, staff, and students engaged in university research.

New Guidance: A Legal Alert regarding Marijuana and Hemp has been issued by the University of Massachusetts Office of the General Counsel. UMass credentials are required to access this document.

Research Compliance Virtual office hours

When: the second Friday of each month at 10 a.m

What: Drop in virtually with your Research Compliance-related questions. Representatives from the Human Research Protection Office (HRPO), Institutional Animal Care and Use (IACUC), Research Risk (Export Control, Data Security) and Conflict of Interest (COI) will be on hand to answer questions.
