The following tools are available to help investigators find extramural funding for research and scholarly activities.
Funding Databases
Offers a searchable database of 25,000 records representing over 400,000 individual funding opportunities from numerous sponsors across all disciplines. UMass Amherst faculty, students, and staff can create accounts and sign up for personalized e-mail funding alerts based on previously specified criteria provided by the individual COS user.
Contains over 9,000 active federal and private funding opportunities in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. The alert service enables students, staff, and researchers to create their own search profiles and delivers the search results automatically via e-mail.
The centralized, searchable clearing-house for over 900 grant programs from the 26 federal grant-making agencies. Several e-mail alert features are available. You do NOT need to register in order to view funding opportunities. ALL Grants.gov proposals must be submitted through the Office of Grants and Contracts Administration.

Funding Alerts
- COS - Profiles and Funding Alerts - Create personal profiles, generate custom alerts, find collaborators.
- IRIS Funding Alerts - The IRIS Alert Service allows you to create your own IRIS search profile. Your search profile will be run automatically at specified intervals and will alert you to upcoming funding opportunities in your areas of interest.
- SBIR/STTR Alerting Service - Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's free, award-winning SBIR/STTR Alert Service is a nationwide resource that improves small business access to a substantial source of R&D capital for entrepreneurial ventures: $2.2 billion in annual federal research and development funds from 11 federal agencies.
- Grants.gov email alerts and RSS feeds - Receive notifications of new grant opportunity postings and updates on Grants.gov. You do not need to be a registered user of Grants.gov to sign-up for this service.

The Foundation Center offers the following free "Funding Watch" newsletters in Arts Funding, Health Funding and Education Funding. They are only available to registered users, but registration is free.
Sponsor Information and Toolkits - The Office of Grants and Contracts Administration (OGCA) has created helpful applicant "toolkits" for each major federal sponsors.
