Jordan On Line (JOL) is a real-time web-based connection to the OGCA Database.
Using JOL you can run custom data queries, update your email information, check the status of all your OGCA business as well as see detailed information for each proposal/award. It will also give you contact information, and Email contact for additional help.
To access JOL, all you need is your PeopleSoft ID (Top right corner of pay stub) and an internet-enabled browser.
Proposal/Award Status:
This is where you use your PeopleSoft ID (Top right corner of pay stub) and you can see each Proposal/Award you have with OGCA. Click on the blue OGCA number on the second page to get a detailed view of your data.
Pre-Built Reports:
(PI and CO-PI Report by OU) There are pre-built reports here. If you want to know any CO-PI involvement in your department, choose this report and enter your OU (department) name. There is a list of names you can cut and paste form.
Custom Reports/Extractions:
This is where you can cast a big ‘data net’. The idea is you get more data than you might need, then save the data in an Excel spreadsheet, and use that tool to sort the data, and summarize.
For example: I want to know how many of my awards are between 50,000 and 100,000 dollars. I can ask JOL for all of my awards, save in XL, and sort by $ amount and select the ones I want from the spreadsheet.
Once your data is returned in the browser, (Depending on the size of the data you requested, it may take your browser a while to 'download' the data. Netscape may sometimes appear to be hung up, Internet Explorer handles these requests well) and you want to save it, just follow these steps:
- Select all the data (Shortcut: Hold CTRL key and press ‘A’)
- Open Microsoft Excel, open a new sheet.
- Paste the data from the web (Shortcut: Hold CTRL key, press ‘V’)
- Delete top ‘blank’ rows, then sort, filter, total data as you wish. (Use excel help for more information on data manipulation)
