The Research Development Fund (RDF) is an annual competitive fund aimed at bringing together researchers to undertake innovative, high quality, sustainable research that addresses the global challenges listed above. The RDF is open only to researchers at WUN member institutions. RDF funds may cover the costs of exploratory research initiatives, targeted workshops, faculty exchanges, and the formation of collaborative networks, among other activities. Applications that incorporate a research mobility component for early career researchers and graduate students are encouraged. Last year two of the proposals from our campus were funded.

A maximum of £12,000 (approx. $17,000 USD) is available from WUN to support early-stage collaborative projects aimed at launching sustainable collaborative research programs involving multiple WUN member institutions as well as other collaborators. Participating institutions provide 1:1 matching funds to augment WUN RDF support. Our campus will provide up to $10,000 per proposal in matching funds for up to 3 UMA-led RDF proposals in 2016. We will also provide required matching funds (up to $5000) for up to three proposals for which UMA is not the lead.

This is an internal limited submission. We will select three proposals for the UMass-led projects through a campus limited submission process. We will be holding an information session about the RDF application process. If you wish to attend, please register here
