Centers and Institutes

UMass Amherst is home to approximately 60 campus-based research Centers and Institutes spanning a wide array of disciplines and specialties within and across campus Schools and Colleges. Research and Engagement supports and assists in the development and management of Centers and Institutes from preliminary stages through Faculty Senate approval, as well as regular reviews and reporting as required by applicable university policy. 

UMass Amherst research strengths align with national, state, and regional priorities including advanced materials and manufacturing; applied life sciences and health; data science and computational science; cognitive science; the arts and creative economy; energy, climate science, and sustainability; and equity and inclusion.
