The Research Area will be hosting two events on
October 5th designed to connect UMass faculty and
others in the campus community with Research Area
staff and the services they provide.
Faculty new to UMass Amherst are invited to attend
a "Research for New Faculty" presentation in the
Newman Center room 2 from 1:45 - 2:45 P.M. Come
hear about the Research services that are available
to faculty and learn new strategies for pursuing
research opportunities. Confirm your attendance by
contacting Becky
McNiven by October 2nd.
Also on October 5th from 3-5 P.M. the campus
community is invited to an Open House in the
Research Administration Building, 70 Butterfield
Terrace. The building is home to the Office of Grant
and Contract Administration (OGCA), Animal Care,
Research Affairs, Research Compliance, Research
Liaison and Development (RL&D), and Commercial
Ventures and Intellectual Property (CVIP). Come and
enjoy refreshments, tour the building and talk with
Research Area staff in a more intimate setting about
how we support and help faculty grow sponsored
activities.

Do you want to enter into sponsored research
agreements with external parties? Do you have
questions about managing your awards after they are
won? If so, the place to go is the Office of Grant and
Contract Administration (OGCA). OGCA is responsible
for the review, processing and submission of
proposals to external sponsors; negotiations, formal
acceptance and execution of awards; and for
administrative post-award oversight of grants and
contracts for externally sponsored projects. (OGCA
also has administrative offices on the 2nd Floor of
Butterfield Terrace.) We’ll also be on hand to answer
questions about the Community of Science directory
and to offer assistance with COS profile updates.
