This calculator will provide an approximate comparison between the cost of traveling by rental car and the cost of the same trip using a personal car at the standard federal reimbursement rate.

• Rental costs are based on upon those available to UMass from Enterprise.
• Information for faculty and staff using a personal car for business travel is available in the Travel Policy and Procedures Manual.
• When a personal vehicle is used for business travel, the owner/driver is solely responsible for automobile insurance coverage.
• The University does not provide roadside assistance for personal vehicles.
