The Renaissance Center hosts several productions and theater companies yearly. Some performances are held outside if the season permits, others are held in our own on site indoor performance space, the Black Box Theatre.

Hampshire Shakespeare Company is a community-based organization with part-time seasonal professional staff. The Company brings together professional, amateur and student performers, offering audiences and actors a range of theatrical experiences from the most profound to the most playful. Renaissance Center Theater Co.
The Renaissance Center Theater Company stages at least two fully-staged productions of Renaissance plays at the Center. Participants and audiences come from all over the area. From time to time, the Company will hold staged readings of new plays, or mount special productions.

2013 Season: The Festival of Madness and Mayhem!
In April 2013, the RCTC partnered with UMass Hillel to present Ben Johnson’s The Alchemist and Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
On April 7th, a staged reading of Ben Johnson’s The Alchemist, as adapted by Alison Bowie, was presented in free of charge in the Upper Rand Lobby of the UMass Fine Arts Center.
Then, in the Black Box Theatre at the Renaissance Center on the 18th, 20th, 21st, 25th and 27th of April, Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, directed by Dori Robinson, was performed to an enthusiastic audience of students, community members, faculty and staff.
The Festival was sponsored in part by a grant from the UMass Arts Council.

Enchanted Circle Theatre
2013 Season: "The Tempest"
August 6th Performance of "The Tempest" by the Enchanted Circle Theatre, Acting Shakespeare. Held outdoors at the Renaissance Center, 11am curtain. Part of the Five week Holyoke Public Schools CONNECTIONS five-week summer intensive program for students in
6th, 7th, 8th and 9th

Touring Company Performances
The Center partners with other organizations to bring touring professional performances of Shakespearean and Renaissance plays to the University stages.
