Academic Activities

Publications

Publications are central to the Center's mission to promote scholarship and professional development in Early Modern studies. Faculty, graduate students, and visiting scholars participate in publishing two journals, a book series, and have published monographs, instructional texts, and editions.

Events

The Center maintains a robust calendar of events throughout the academic year. Programming includes annual series, such as the Renaissance Wednesday Series -- informal discussions of the renaisance roots of our culture -- as well as special events and topical conferences, such as the Triennial International Thomas More Conference in August 2007.

The online calendar lists all of the events scheduled for the current academic semester and is updated at the beginning of each semester.

Courses

Each semester the Center hosts community and University classes. University classes are available to matriculated students of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and those enrolled in the Five Colleges; Community classes are free and open to the public.

Local Scholars

The Five College area is home to Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Hampshire Colleges, as well as the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Many local scholars are actively engaged in Renaissance Studies.
