REMP Extracurriculars: The Messickists!

Psychometrics isn't the only thing that keeps REMP faculty and students busy.

The Messickists, a band composed of UMass faculty, students, alumni, and friends, is led by Professor Steve Sireci. Their Spring Tour (also their debut performance) took place in May 2010 in Denver, CO at the annual AERA/NCME meeting where a Battle of the [Psychometric] Bands was on the program. Selected performances from Denver include Burnin' Down the House, Sympathy, Sweet Caroline, and I Wanna be Equated.

At the Northeastern Educational Research Conference (greater Hartford, CT), in October 2010, the group reunited for their Fall Tour. Highlights of this show include the ever-popular Locomotive Breath, a cover of the classic Pride by Irish rockers U2, and Hallelujah.

In addition to Sireci, the Messickists include (but is not limited to) Katrina Crotts, Rob Cook, Brooke Magnus, Gil Andrada, Fraser Stowe, and ETSers John Mazzeo and Mary Pitoniak (UMass Ph.D., 2003).
