Upcoming CEA/REMP Seminar: Dr. Brian Gong to Speak at UMass

 The Center for Educational Assessment at UMass is very pleased to announce that Dr. Brian Gong, the Executive Director of the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment (NCIEA), will speak at UMass on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Dr. Gong will give a seminar from 9:15am to 11:45am in Hills South Room 267, and his talk is entitled "Challenges of accountability systems: Construct(ing) validity."

In his talk, Dr. Gong will discuss validity and accountability systems including several key challenges faced in developing and implementing such systems, such as identifying what is valued, measuring what is identified, making accountability decisions based on measurements, using accountability decisions to inform consequences, and dealing with intended and unintended consequences.
