Upcoming CEA/REMP Seminar: Dr. Robert Gershon to speak at UMass
|On Monday, November 10, 2008, Dr. Robert Gershon of Northwestern University will speak at UMass. Dr. Gershon will speak from 10:30am to 11:30am in 128 Furcolo Hall on "Computer-Adaptive Testing in the Assessment of Health". He will also speak at noon in 151 Hills South, and the title of that talk is "Life as a Measurement Specialist in Allied Health".
Dr. Gershon is Director, Psychometrics and Informatics, CORE, and a faculty member, Department of Psychology, Northwestern University. Dr. Gershon is a leading expert in the application of Item Response Theory (IRT) in both individualized and large scale assessment. He has developed item banks and Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) for educational, clinical and health applications, including cognitive, emotional, and motor applications. He is currently principal investigator on the NIH Toolbox, the largest contract award in CORE's 10 year history. He is also co-investigator and measurement development expert on each of the following CORE projects: 1) the NINDS sponsored project "Quality of Life Outcomes in Neurological Disorders" (Neuro-QoL), 2) the NIH Roadmap project "Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) and the cancer-specific supplement, as well as several smaller projects.
