The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life provides individual and institutional advocacy, educational programs including interfaith and religious-secular dialogue, and other bridge-building activities designed to promote an informed, caring and supportive campus community for students of all backgrounds and beliefs.

We also serve as the liaison between the University and the private religious organizations and advisers who provide pastoral counseling and other religious services for our students.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Undergraduate position

This is an interesting and educational job for a student who is interested in the various religious and cultural issues we deal with. (We encourage you to peruse this website to learn more about our work.)

Description: Provide administrative assistance to the director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Monitor campus and other newspapers; perform Internet research as needed; update database and website links; photocopying; publicity; marketing; and other tasks as required. This is primarily an office job, although you must be able to interact comfortably with a religiously diverse population of students and clergy.

Pay Rate: $8.50-$9.00 per hour (depending on skills and related experience).

Required experience: A minimum commitment of at least one year is required. Must have a good working knowledge of PC's, Windows XP, MS Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer or Mozilla. Previous experience with MS Access (or another database) is preferred but not required. Graphics or digital photography experience is preferred but not required. Prior office experience or other related experience is strongly preferred. It is also preferable that applicants have at least one semester's experience at UMass Amherst. Interest in and knowledge of journalism, interfaith issues, or world religions (other than your own!!) is helpful but not required.

Hours: 5-10 hours per week, negotiable.
