Computer Science TAP

The Computer Science department offers a Talent Advanced Program (TAP) for a select group of students admitted into this major. TAPs are specialized academic learning communities that are offered by invitation only, based on criteria set by the department. TAPs provide first-year students with a variety of opportunities for a successful transition to the academic and social life at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Students who are invited and choose to participate in the Computer Science TAP (CMPSCI TAP) will:
  1. Live together in Dickinson Hall in the Orchard Hill area of campus.
  2. Enroll in a CMPSCI TAP Seminar (1 credit) and a section of College Writing 112 - both of which are taught in the residential area.
  3. Enroll in classes on the Main Campus with other CMPSCI TAP students (Calculus and Computer Science introductory classes).
  4. Meet faculty members "up close and personal" through a variety of academic opportunities offered by the department.
