James E. Britt
James E. Britt, 53, of Leverett, a skilled
laborer in Grounds Management, died Sept. 21 in Dart-mouth Hitchcock
Hospital in Lebanon, N.H.
He had served the University since 1970.
He leaves his wife, Joyce Britt, clerk III
in Biology; his father, Gerald Britt of Amherst; four brothers,
Paul, storekeeper II in Auxiliary Services, and Robert, both of
Amherst, Donald Britt of Belchertown, and Lawrence Britt, maintainer
I in Housing Services; and two sisters, Connie Russell of Hadley
and Shirley Jakutowicz of Rocky Hill, Conn.

Robert Morris Grover
Robert Morris Grover, 79, of Hadley, a retired professor of Veterinary
and Animal Sciences, died Sept. 21 in Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
He served the public for 31 years, including 19 at the University,
before retiring in 1979. He specialized in poultry science, working
for nine years as a coun-ty agricultural agent in Maine and for
several more each as a county extension agent in eastern Massachusetts
and a supervisor for White's Poultry Farm and Hatchery in Skowhegan,
Maine.
For two decades after he retired, he wrote a weekly column for
the United Cooperative Farms Newsletter.
He served in the U.S. Navy Corps of Engineers during World War
II.
In 1965 he was given the Epsilon Sigma Phi award for outstanding
service in extension work for his contributions to the development
of programs for state poultry raisers.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Avis Grover; two sons, Richard
of Portland, Maine, and Bruce of New Orleans; a daughter, Marilyn
Wax, of London, England; and five grandchildren.
