21 new faculty added to teaching ranks

he start of the fall semester next week will
also mark the arrival of 21 new faculty members, including 18 tenure-track
appointees, two tenured professors and a tenured associate professor.
The appointments span 17 departments across campus, according to
the Provost's Office.
Among the nine schools
and colleges, seven have hired new faculty. The largest group is
coming on board at the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
(CNSM), with nine tenure-track hires. The College of Engineering
is welcoming five new faculty, followed by two each in the College
of Humanities and Fine Arts (CHFA) and the School of Education.
The School of Nursing, Isenberg School of Management and College
of Food and Natural Resources (CFNR) each have hired one new faculty
member.
The tenured appointments
are Soren Bisgaard, professor of Operations Management and Isen-
berg Professor of Integrative Studies; Dimitrios Maroudas, professor
of Chemical Engineering and Michael Henson, associate professor
of Chemical Engineering.
Also in the College
of Engineering, Robert Hyers and Erin Baker have been appointed
assistant professors in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and
Tilman Wolf is a new assistant professor of Electrical and Com-puter
Engineering.
New tenure-track hires
in CNSM are Alexander J. Levine, Physics; Alfred Crosby, Polymer
Science and Engineering; Luc Rey-Bellet and Farshid Hajir, both
in Mathematics and Statistics; Steven Petsch, Geosciences; Michael
J. Knapp, Chemistry; Todd Tripp, Astronomy; Emery Berger and Oliver
Brock, both in Computer Science.
Elizabeth Henneman has
been appointed assistant professor in the School of Nursing.
CHFA has added two tenure-track faculty: Donna LeCourt, associate
professor of English and Joseph Krupczynski, assistant professor
of Art.
The School of Education
gave tenure-track appointments to Patricia Paugh, Teacher Education
and Curriculum Studies and Catherine Dimmitt, Student Development
and Pupil Personnel Services.
CFNR's sole appointee
is Stephen McKelvey, assistant professor of Sport Studies.
