A book co-edited and authored by Landscape Architecture professor
Nicholas T. Dines will be released in a Chinese-language edition
next month.
"Time-Saver Standards for Landscape Architecture," written
with Charles W. Harris, professor emeritus at the Harvard Graduate
School of Design, has been translated into Chinese by the China
Architecture and Building Press, according to Dines.
The American Society of Landscape Architects award-winning reference
is in its second edition and is published by the McGraw-Hill Companies.
The English version and the recently released CD-ROM edition,
are used in university programs and professional offices throughout
the world. The book focuses on site construction processes, critical
dimensions and area requirements for various activities and cultural
settings, associated structural formulas, materials, and essential
construction details.
Another taste of UMass
Squirrels in the area around Whitmore, Munson Hall and Herter
Hall are a little nervous these days since a red fox settled into
the territory. The fox was seen on Monday merrily walking past
Whitmore with one of the squirrels in its jaws. Just to make matters
worse for the gray team, a large red-tailed hawk was spotted in
a tree in front of Munson, carefully scanning the ground for prey.
Something to say
