Reminder: UMass Days coming April 26 and 27

by Sarah R. Buchholz, Chronicle staff

riends and "family" of the University are reminded that the two-day showcase highlighting the various roles the University and its in-state alumni play across the Commonwealth kicks off Friday, April 26, with UMass Spirit Day. Using the theme "UMass Powers Massachusetts," the spirit day and UMass Day on April 27 are intended to demonstrate the educational, social and economic contributions of the University system.

On Spirit Day, alumni, students, parents, employees and supporters from around the commonwealth are being encouraged to wear UMass gear, such as shirts, hats and pins throughout the day.

UMass Day, April 27, will be celebrated at six sites around the state: Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Franklin, Chelmsford and Cotuit. All events begin at 10 a.m.

Boston activities will take place at the Boston Public Library and Copley Square. The public library also will be the site of the events in Cotuit, Chelmsford, Franklin and Worcester. In Springfield, the location is the civic center.

More information about these activities is available on the Web (www.umass.edu/actnow) and in the April 12 edition of the Chronicle.
