Legislator to address senate

by Sarah R. Buchholz, Chronicle staff

The Faculty Senate will hear a presentation from state Rep. Stephen Kulik (D-Worthington) on "Massachusetts' Fiscal Outlook and Prospects for Public Higher Education," at its Feb. 14 meeting.

The senate also will receive special reports from the Program and Budget Council concerning the budget for intercollegiate athletics and a joint report from the Academic Matters and Rules committees concerning procedures to follow when merging academic programs.

The senate will entertain several motions, including one recommending that the "subsidy for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program..., including fees and allocations from the campus budget, be reduced by $1 million over the next four fiscal years."
