No action taken on pay raises

ive campus collective bargaining agreements stalled in the State House last Wednesday as the Senate approved funding for the contracts, but the House failed to act before adjourning.
The contracts, which were approved last month by the Board of Trustees, may be considered in informal session as early as this week, but no timetable has been announced. Measures may be approved in informal session as long as no lawmakers object.
According to published reports, the Swift administration believes the contracts must be funded before Dec. 31 or be renegotiated, while House leaders contend the measures could wait until a vote in January, if necessary.
The unions awaiting action on their contracts include the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 1776; Graduate Employee Organization; Massachusetts Society of Professors; Service Employees International Union, Local 509; and the University Staff Association.
