Chancellor search panel announced

he process of hiring a new Amherst campus chancellor
moved ahead this week with the naming of a 20-member search committee
by President William M. Bulger and Board of Trustees chair Grace
K. Fey, who is also leading the search panel.
The committee includes
Board of Higher Education Chairman Stephen Tocco, Executive Vice
President James R. Julian, Jr., Worcester campus Chancellor Aaron
Lazare and trustees Robert Mahoney, Jack Naughton and Karl White.
Jon Laubinger, the new Amherst campus student trustee is also on
the panel.
Campus representatives
include Charlena Seymour, interim senior vice chancellor for Academic
Affairs and provost; Javier Cevallos, vice chancellor for Student
Affairs and Campus Life; Lila Gierasch, head of the Department of
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Anthropology Department chair
Ralph Faulkingham; Mzamo Mangaliso, associate professor of Management;
Music professor and Faculty Senate secretary Ernest May; and Melinda
Novak, chair of the Psychology Department.
Alumni Andrew Changelian,'83,
Denise Coll, '75, Daniel Rivera,'96 and Marty Jacobsen, '68 are
on the panel as is Craig Melin, president of Cooley-Dickinson Hospital
in Northampton.
"I want to thank
the members of the committee for accepting this important responsibility,"
said Bulger. "I know that each one of them will bring great
experience and talent to the mission of finding the best possible
leader for the Amherst campus."
