Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Cora B. Marrett
interviewed for the Iowa State University presidency Jan. 17 and
18. Marrett is one of five finalists for the position, four of whom
were scheduled to interview this week.
In addition to appearing
in an open forum and a diversity forum and meeting with administrators,
faculty, staff and students, the candidates are meeting with the
state's Board of Regents.
Marrett interviewed second, after Sharon Stephens Brehm, provost
and professor of psychology at Ohio University. The other candidates
are James L. Melsa, dean of the College of Engineering and professor
of electrical and computer engineering at Iowa State; Gregory L.
Geoffroy, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost
at the University of Maryland; and Michael M. Crow, executive vice
provost and professor of science policy and technology at Columbia
University.
Marrett, who
could not be reached for comment, has served as provost since 1997.
She was given the title of senior vice chancellor in 1999 as part
of a reorganization of the top administrative structure.
