Contest seeks suggestions for
reducing waste

he Office of Waste Management (OWM) is sponsoring a competition to gather ideas from faculty and staff for reducing the amount of waste produced on campus.

     Prizes with a total value of $500 will be awarded for the best proposals to reduce waste in individual offices, departments or buildings. Between three and 10 prizes will be awarded.

     The more developed the proposal, the better its chance of winning. Factors OWM will consider include, but are not limited to: cost of implementation, feasibility, greatest tonnage reduction and waste toxicity reduction.

     Ideas may be submitted by e-mail (lorenzo@facil.umass.edu) or through campus mail to Lorenzo Macaluso, Waste Management, 151 Tillson Farm Road.

     All ideas must be submitted by Jan. 30.
