Scott
announces plans to step down
Chancellor David K. Scott announced Nov. 28 that he plans to step
down as chancellor, effective June 30, 2001. He has served as chancellor
since July 1993.
$200m bond issue to fund capital projects
The University system via the University of Massachusetts Building
Authority is offering approximately $200 million of bonds next week
for a variety of capital improvement projects, according to Thomas
Green, director of public finance for Salomon Smith Barney, the
firm through which the building authority is offering the bonds.
Marine Science programs face senate debate
The Faculty Senate plans to discuss deferring approval of M.S. and
Ph.D. programs in Marine Sciences and Technology at its Dec. 7 meeting.
HFA offers new faculty seminar
A new faculty program, the Interdisciplinary Seminar in Humanities
and Fine Arts, has been formed to generate discussion and interaction
among faculty in all areas of the University.
Public comment sought on transportation issues
Two public forums are being held on campus next week to outline
plans for a comprehensive campus transportation study and solicit
public opinion on related issues.
Faculty and staff advised to trade in halogen
lamps
Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECO) and New England Energy
Star will be holding free energy efficient lighting exchange programs
during December.
