deadline for spring semester.
The sessions are scheduled for Saturday,
Sept. 30 at 10 a.m., and Thursdays, Oct. 5 and 12, both at 5:30
p.m. The information sessions are free and open to the public
and usually last for about one hour. Anyone interested in attending
may reserve a seat by calling the UWW office at 5-1378. If the
scheduled dates and times are inconvenient, arrangements for an
individual session may be made by calling the UWW office.
UWW offers solid academic advising services
to all students and provides three foundation courses for students
to design individualized degree plans and earn college credit
for life experience. Courses required by the program are generally
offered on weekday evenings, and during weekday hours to accommodate
working adults. There is also a weekends program offered each
fall semester which enables new students to complete the first
two required courses by attending classes one weekend a month
and using the internet to communicate and do research in between
class meetings.
Department offers free Canon photocopier
The Department of Landscape Architecture
and Regional Planning is offering a Canon NP4080 photocopier free
to any campus department.
The machine needs approximately $500 in repairs
to become fully functional. The copier has color cartridges to
do color highlight copying (not color images), a 20-bin automatic
sorter and a stapler. The copier can also reduce and enlarge and
perform double-side copying.
For more information, call Sheila at 5-6622.
Directory update cards going out with Sept. 22 paychecks
Telephone Directory Update Cards will be
distributed to employees with the paychecks on Sept. 22. The cards
are collected and used by Telecommunications to publish the 2000/2001
Faculty & Staff Telephone Directory. Anyone who does not receive
a card should call 5-2171. All cards should be signed, updated
if necessary, and returned to Phil Pelletier, Telecommunications
Services, Trailer #2 by Oct. 6.
The information shown on the Directory Cards
comes from Human Resources' employee system. Employees are asked
to verify the accuracy of this information and correct the following
items directly on the card: work location, work phone number,
home address and home phone number. Contact the Human Resources
Information Center, 5-6111, for procedures on changing employee
name or working title.
E-mail addresses ending with "umass.edu"
are pre-printed on the cards. Employees who do not want their
e-mail address published in the telephone directory may simply
cross it out on their card. Keep in mind that these e-mail addresses
are accessible through an Internet Directory Search on the University's
homepage.
Directory cards also include a notation that
alerts employees as to whether they have restricted their home
address/phone number from being disclosed or published. Employees
who have not restricted this information and wish to do so, must
file a directive form with Human Resources. The form is available
online (www.umass.edu/humres/fipa1.htm)
and should be submitted by Oct. 6 to the Human Resources Information
Center, 3rd floor, Whitmore Administration Building in order to
have the request reflected in the forthcoming telephone directory.
Questions about the phone directory and directory
cards should be directed to Phil Pelletier, Telecommunications
Services, 5-2171.
