Two viewbooks produced by the Publications
Office won awards during the Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts'
annual Creative Merit Awards ceremony on June 28.
A viewbook for the Department of Art won two gold awards. Graphic
designer Donna Meisse was honored for her design of the 16-page,
full-color booklet. Therese Frare and Ben Barnhart shared the
other award as photographers for the project. Frare is a staff
photographer at Photographic Services and Barnhart is now staff
writer and photographer at UMass magazine.
"This piece tells the reader more about this facility than pieces
three times its size," noted one judge while another said, "There
is no better way to make a visual statement than with this full
color glossy piece. The student work highlighted is top notch."
A third judge called the piece "great positioning for an art
department."
The Ad Club also gave bronze awards to Steve Robbins and Jim
Burke of the Publications Office for their design of the Undergraduate
Admissions viewbook, "Excellence Within Your Reach." Robbins is
associate director and creative director and Burke is assistant
director and senior designer at the Publications Office.
