Pearson given budget duties

A long with her responsibility for academic labor relations, associate provost Susan Pearson is coordinating budget and finance activity within Academic Affairs, according to interim Provost Charlena M. Seymour.

In a memorandum dated July 16, Seymour said Pearson's new title is associate provost for Faculty Relations and Budget. In her new role, said the memo, Pearson is also advising the provost, deputy provost and deans about academic financial planning matters and budget request strategies; providing analysis and recommendations on the viability and financial impact of allocation requests and fee requests; and rep-resenting Academic Affairs in the development of campus fiscal policies and procedures.

Seymour said Pearson will also continue to represent the campus in the negotiation and administration of the University's contract with the Massachusetts Society of Professors; work with Academic Affairs officials and the President's Office to develop bargaining proposals; determine the disposition of grievances; and work with MSP to address matters of mutual concern.
