Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We will be having a membership meeting on TUESDAY AUGUST 15, 2006 at noon in
the Campus Center, room 803.

The primary focus of the meeting will be to review and take comments on the
proposed structure and bylaws for our local and our chapter.

The LOCAL by-laws must be approved by the entire local, which includes
Boston and Amherst PSU, and Unit B. The Amherst Chapter Board is currently
working with the Board in Boston on a proposal to set forth to the
membership. We expect to have something before the August 15th meeting, but
we have no control over our colleagues in Boston, so cannot guarantee.

A committee of members worked very hard to propose a member-driven,
member-run structure. The committee's recommendation to the Chapter Board
was reviewed at a retreat in June, with final tweaking completed in July.
The Board would again like to thank everyone on the Structure and By-Laws
Committee for their hard work and great product.

These local by-laws must be adopted by a vote of the membership. We expect
to finalize the proposal(s) based on your feedback in time for a vote in
early September.
