November 2008
The 56th Annual Meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) was held on November 16-18, 2008
at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada. Many of our UMass Plant, Soil & Insect Sciences (PSIS) Entomology professors, staff, and students attended, and several gave research presentations. Highlights of the ESA meeting, including presentations, awards, and photographs can be found at:

The theme of the 2008 ESA meeting was
“Metamorphosis: A New Beginning.” Our PSIS Entomologists brought some of our Alumni and Friends "back to their beginnings" by inviting them to a Department-sponsored UMass Mixer. The guests met with our current personnel to reminisce and catch up on the latest developments at UMass PSIS. Our people were happy to see former UMass Entomology professors, staff, and students, and to find out what they've been up to lately. The success of our former Entomology students is always a nice reflection on the quality of the academic program offered at UMass.
