Congratulations to Plant, Soil & Insect Sciences (PSIS) Graduate Students Jason Lanier and Lindsey Hoffman for winning presentation awards at the 2009 Annual International Meeting of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science Society of America, (SSSA) held in Pittsburgh, PA on November 1-5, 2009.
The conference theme was "Footprints in the Landscape: Sustainability Through Plant and Soil Sciences." Lanier and Hoffman were among 32 graduate student competitors for oral presentations, and 32 for poster presentations in the C5 Turfgrass Science Division of CSSA. Major topics in both basic and applied turfgrass research areas included turfgrass management, physiology, pathology and breeding. Jason Lanier placed 2nd in the oral, and 3rd in the poster competitions. Lindsey Hoffman was the 3rd place winner in the oral competition. Lanier's PSIS Faculty Advisor is Dr. J. Scott Ebdon, and Hoffman's Advisor is Dr. Michelle DaCosta. The Department is very proud that the PSIS graduate students did so well against very tough competitors from other national institutions.
