Outstanding Employees Recognized

Ten classified and professional staff and an equal number of student employees were honored May 17 for outstanding contributions to the University.

Interim Chancellor Marcellette Williams hosted an awards reception at the Mullins Center for the recipients of the Chancellor's Citations and the Gerald F. Scanlon Student Employee of the Year Awards.

Receiving Chancellor's Citations were Lisa Barry, Biology; Phyllis Berman, Plant and Soil Sciences; Marcia Booker, Development; Paul Godfrey, The Environmental Institute; Luanne Herrick, Auxiliary Services; Alan Holzhauer, Auxiliary Services; Margaret Malone, French and Italian Studies; Alan McArdle, Office of Institutional Research.; Mary Mireault, Nursing; and Janet Muzzy, Development.

Along with a certificate of recognition, the citations winners also received $300 awards.

The Gerald F. Scanlon Student Employee of the Year Awards were given to David Buck, Foreign Languages Resource Center; Toni Cocchi, Molrcular and Cellular Biology; Peter Gelinas, Center for Teaching; Meghan Hastings, Office of Information Technologies; Jeremiah Iadevaia, Auxiliary Services; Kristyn Medlock, Biology; Heather Miron, Conference Services; Dawn Pavao, W.E.B. DuBois Library; Nyssa Schloyer, Resource Economics; and Jacob Toomey, Transit Services.

Each student received a certificate of meritorious service and $300. Nominations for both recognition programs were solicited from the campus community. Selection committees comprised of representitives of each executive area and Human Resources, reviewed nominations and recommended those for recognition.
