safetySafety procedures and Safety training information are provided on this page. There are links to important UMass Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) information and services, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) sources, and information from the Offices of the Vice Chancellor for Research. In addition, the Department of Plant, Soil & Insect Sciences has some of its own safety requirements, and the information and associated forms are also available on this page.

There are Federal, State, and University safety rules and regulations that must be followed, and specific training requirements that must be fulfilled. EH&S on campus provides all the necessary training. Faculty/Supervisors are responsible for assuring that they, and all personnel in their charge are properly trained (including all Faculty, Staff, Visiting Faculty or Scientists, Postdocs, Graduate Students, and Work-Study and Independent Study Undergraduate Students).
