Part-time students and others interested in learning about Plants, Soils, and/or Insects are encouraged to "sign-up" for Department courses through the University Continuing and Professional Education Program (C&PE). Generally, these courses are offered one evening a week for the semester and cover the same instructional material as offered in the regular day class. If desired, C&PE classes can be taken for credit and transferred into regular University programs. There is also an Entomology Graduate course, ENTOMOL 671 Using Insects in the Classroom and Outdoor Setting available ONLINE through Continuing Education. Many students prefer courses in the evening due to generally smaller class size and a more relaxed learning environment. All ages are welcome and a typical class will have seniors and younger people. A C&PE class may be a first course at the University for some students, while for other students the course may be part of a regular degree program. Many people take a Plant, Soil & Insect Science (PSIS) course through C&PE because of a special interest in the class material.
During the Summer, PSIS offers courses through C&PE that cover various aspects of Wetland Science. Two, non-credit Wetland courses are :
