This includes managed crop production and the interface of managed and natural systems within urban and suburban settings, and focusing on plant, soil, and water resource management. The Plant and Soil Division includes the Plant Pathology Group, with emphasis on understanding the biological and environmental causes of plant diseases, and on devising disease management stratagies.
The Plant and Soil Sciences Division research, teaching, and Outreach programs emphasize the study and technology transfer related to growth of food and ornamental crops, protection of soil and water, improvement of plants, development of new crops, development of plant disease control stratagies, management of harvested materials, remediation of pollution in soil and water, and use of urban and agricultural by-products.
