Setting up your OWL class to work with PRS:

OWL grades using the session file which is automatically created when you gather student responses in PRS. This file is saved in the PRS software as an ASCII, comma-delimited [session_name.CSV] data file format. This data file format is supported by most programs, including Microsoft’s Excel, and it can be imported into OWL. This means you do not need to use the internal PRS grading mechanism when importing grades to OWL, all the grading will be done through OWL.

  2. The first time you go here you will need to select which clicker you are using. OWL works with a few other style clickers but you'll want to select the middle one that looks a little bit like a calculator.OWL select clicker page
  3. There is one last setup screen in OWL before your class is correctly associated with the clickers.  In most cases no settings should need to be changed on this page.  Simply click the Save Clicker Settings button at the bottom of the page.OWL setup screen
  4. In order to set up your default grading system, click on "Manage Sessions" at the top of the page.manage sessions page

The first time you go to this page you will be able to set up your default grading scheme for any session you upload.  Think about how you want to grade your PRS sessions and fill this form out.  Note that you must select a gradebook to export your PRS grades to once you grade them.  You may name the gradebook whatever you like (for example, "PRS" or "PRS Points").  If you want all sessions to be worth the same amount (no matter how many questions were asked) select “Scaled Score” instead of “Total Points” under scoring for gradebook.  You will also need to enter how many points they should be scaled to

Give 2 points for correct answers
Give 1 point for incorrect answers
Export to a Gradebook named “PRS Points”
