How OWL grades students:
OWL requires that students register their clickers in OWL (**make this a link?) Once you have done Step 1, students will be allowed to log on and register their clickers. It is important that students do this; otherwise OWL will not record their grades, and they will not be able to get credit.
Uploading and Grading Sessions in PRS
This process may seem complicated at first, but if you walk through it using OWL, it will become clear.
- To get to the “Session Upload” page in OWL from section management click "Classroom Response System (Clickers)" -> “Manage Sessions” -> “Upload Session”. Note: you may upload more than one session at a time if you wish.
- Browse to the files you wish to upload. By default PRS session files are held in your documents directory /PRS/Sessions/<session name>/session.csv . Once you have selected the session to upload click the "Upload Files" button at the bottom of the screen.

- You will automatically be taken to a list of all sessions which have been uploaded and if there were answers provided with the session uploaded the sessions will automatically be graded with your defaults. The sessions are now in OWL, but they may not be graded correctly. To get to the grading page for a specific session, click the blue arrow by that session in the "Grade/Edit Session" column.

- In the grading page, you will be able to specify specifically for each session and question how it should be graded. Each question may have up to three correct answers. In addition there are a number of advanced options. For instance, if you have a multiple multiple choice question (where the answers entered matter but not their order) you would put m=1 in the options box by that answer. There are also options for allowing a range as a correct answer on numeric questions. For example, if the correct answer to your question was 2, but you wanted to accept answers as low as 1.8 and as high as 2.2 you could use t=.2 to specify there should be a tolerance of .2 that will be accepted as correct around the correct value.

- Once you are done, you can hit the "Save session questions and Grading" button to save the changes you've made. To verify the grading looks approximately correct it is often helpful to check the "Session Reports" at the top of the page. This will give you a detailed view of every student's grade (for the session and for each question) as well as a list of what that student answered for each question.

- Once you are satisfied that the session has been graded correctly, click the "Export to Gradebook" button at the top of the screen. This will bring up a page displaying the default export settings that you configured earlier. Make any changes you wish, and then click the "Export to Gradebook" button.
