Is your computer ready?

Most instructors use their own laptops to run PRS.  There are a few department-controlled rooms on campus with computers available, but for the most part instructors are expected to take their laptops to class and run the PRS system though them.

To use PRS, you need:

  1. A computer that meets the minimum requirements

Your laptop will also need to meet the system requirements in order to run the system without problems. See "PRS System Requirements" below to confirm that your computer meets these requirements.
  2. The PRS Response Software

The software is free, and can be downloaded from the eInstruction website (formerly InterWrite). Make sure to choose the right version for your operating system.
  3. A PRS Receiver equipped classroom, or a USB Receiver dongle

Your computer needs to have a PRS receiver attached to receive signals from the "clickers." You can use a portable USB Receiver or attach your computer to the built-in receivers available in some classrooms.

To check and see if your classroom is properly equipped for PRS, go to the "Is your classroom ready?" page.
