PRS FAQ
For Prospective Users:
What is a Roster/ Gradebook/Histogram?
(See the PRS Glossary for the definition
of these and other commonly used terms.)
Do I have to use SPARK
or OWL to be able to use PRS?
Though it isn't necessary to use SPARK or OWL with PRS it allows students to easily check their grades and make sure there isn't a problem with their answers being received. OWL also offers a more powerful grading system than the basic PRS gradebook, though it takes a bit more time to learn and use. See OWL Grading for more information.
Where do students purchase
transmitters and how much do they cost?
See Student FAQ for current price and purchase locations.
For Current Users:
How do I give students credit for answering
even if their answer is wrong?
In PRS this is done by changing the incorrect answer multiplier. Set multipliers for correct and incorrect so that you get the desired fraction. For instance if you wanted to give full credit for correct answers and half credit for incorrect answers you could set the correct answer multiplier to 2 and the incorrect answer multiplier to 1. PRS only allows one value for the multipliers for any given session. For more information on grading see the Sample Grading page.
What version of PRS am I using?
To find out what version of PRS you are using open up the Interwrite Response software and go to the “Help” pull down menu. Choose the “About” option. A window will pop up that says “Interwrite PRS” and underneath that “Version:” followed by your version number.
To make sure you have the latest version check the Interwrite PRS website (look for the Interwrite Response Software on the list, and you will see a version number) and occasionally update PRS by going to the help pull down and selecting “check for updates

Technical:
What is the technology
used for signal transmission?
PRS uses radio frequency technology similar to a cell phone.
