    The search committee for the Continuing and Professional Education Vice Provost has identified Chris Nicholson, Ph.D., Senior Director of Enrollment and Marketing, University College, University of Denver, as a finalist.  Chris will give a presentation to the campus community, Monday, May 2nd, from 11:00am-12noon in Campus Center 911-15, and will be available for questions.

    The search committee for Dean of Libraries has identified Kristin Antelman, University Librarian, California Institute of Technology, as a finalist.  Antelman will give a presentation to the campus community, Monday, March 21 at 3:30pm in ILC S231, and will be available for questions.

    The search committee for Dean of Libraries has identified Scott Walter, University Librarian, DePaul University, as a finalist.  Walter will give a presentation to the campus community, Tuesday, March 8 at 4:30pm in Campus Center 904-908, and will be available for questions.

    The search committee for Dean of Libraries has identified Simon Neame, Associate University Librarian and Director of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the University of British Columbia Library in Vancouver, as a finalist.  Neame will give a presentation to the campus community, Thursday, March 3rd at 3:30pm in the Commonwealth Honors Events Hall, and will be available for questions.

    The search has been launched for Dean of Libraries.  The search committee is co-chaired by Bruce Croft, Interim Dean of Information and Computer Sciences, and Gretchen Gerzina, Dean of Commonwealth Honors College.  Search committee members are Iqbal Agha, Chair and Professor, Finance & Operations Management; Whitney Battle-Baptiste, Director, W.E.B.

    The draft was produced by the UMA-ACE Committee chaired by Professor Joseph Berger and Mzamo Mangaliso.  The Draft Plan will be discussed at the Faculty Senate Meeting on October 8, and subsequently with associated Faculty Senate Councils and Committees, and with any interested faculty.

    A search has been launched for Dean of the College of Information and Computer Sciences.  The search committee is co-chaired by Dean Marjorie Aelion, School of Public Health and Health Sciences, and Steve Goodwin, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences.  Search committee members are Distinguished Professor Jane Fountain, Political Science, Public Policy and Administration; Professor Aura Ganz, Electrical and Computer Engineering; Distinguished Professor Lila Gierasch,  Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Professor Farshid Hajir, Dept. Head, Mathematics and Statistics; Professor Traci Hess, Isenberg School of Management; Associate Professor James Kitts, Sociology; Professor Brian Levine, Computer Science; Professor Andrew McCallum, Computer Science; Mr. Robert Sproull, Adjunct Professor, Computer Science; Professor Thai Thayumanavan, Chemistry; and Distinguished Professor Don Towsley, Computer Science.

    Gretchen Holbrook Gerzina, the Kathe Tappe Vernon Professor of Biography and chair of the department of African and African-American studies at Dartmouth College, has been named the new dean of the Commonwealth Honors College beginning July 1. Previously, she was professor of English and director of Africana Studies at Barnard College, Columbia University and professor of English and associate dean of the faculty at Vassar College.

  • April 16th, 2015

    John A. Hird has been appointed dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, effective April 1. Interim dean since April 2014, Hird previously served as senior associate dean of the college and chair of the political science department. A member of the faculty since 1989, he was the founding director of the Center for Public Policy and Administration and the master’s program in public policy and administration from 1998 to 2006.
