The University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications and nominations for a visionary scholar of distinction to serve as the inaugural holder of the Endowed Chair in the Study of Nonviolent Direct Action and Civil Resistance, a new faculty position focused on the scientific study of nonviolent direct action and civil resistance.
Nominations are due by Friday, March 15th, and will be accepted from any member of the University of Massachusetts Amherst community. The awards showcase excellence among our faculty and staff who are engaged in community partnerships that create benefit for the public as well as our institution.
Nominations will be evaluated by a committee drawn from the Faculty Senate Council on University Service, Public Service and Outreach, which will make recommendations for awards to the Provost. Previous awardees are not eligible.
Provost James V. Staros has named Tim Anderson, Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida, as Dean of the College of Engineering, effective March 1, 2013.
Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy and Provost James V. Staros have launched a collaborative campus-wide strategic planning process. The first phase will produce a plan for submission to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) by the end of this academic year.
