The application period for the
2016-17 PREP program is now open. Decisions will be made by the end of April 2016.
Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) encourages students of underrepresented groups who hold recent baccalaureate degrees to pursue doctorates in biomedical sciences. PREP participants work as apprentice scientists in laboratories and participate in professional development activities, as well as taking a course per semester.
PREP is a one-year paid internship with the goal of strengthening research skills and academic competitiveness of participants for pursuit of a graduate degree. Accepted interns will receive tuition and 95% of health care paid.
Note: Students are required to attend the summer research program (SPUR) in order to be considered for the year-long PREP program. The SPUR Program will run from June 12, 2016 to August 6, 2016.
The UMass PREP program is unique in that it focuses on using interdisciplinary approaches to answer important scientific questions in fields such as:
