Getting here and around…
by air: The closest airport is Bradley International Airport (Hartford-Springfield) in Windsor Locks, CT. You can take a Peter Pan bus from the airport right to the center of Northampton, Amherst, and the UMass Campus. The cost is about $20 (the ride is over an hour). We do not recommend flying into Worcester; the only way to get from there to here is to rent a car.
by train: Amtrak stops in Springfield and, on a limited schedule, in Amherst. If you come into Springfield, again, Peter Pan Bus Lines can bring you up to Northampton or Amherst.
by bus: Peter Pan runs from New York City and Boston into Amherst.
Peter Pan: (800) 343-9999around the Valley: The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) operates a bus system including a 5-College shuttle throughout the area of Amherst, Northampton, and South Hadley. Some of the out-lying towns are served less-frequently or not at all (be sure to ask about access to the bus when looking at places to live). During the school year, bus service is free of charge.
