Students at UMass Amherst can be trained in the latest political polling techniques through the Department of Political Science.

POLISCI 391BH, Political Polling and Survey Research, leads students through the development, implementation, and analysis of exit polls during election seasons. The course teaches students how to constructively critique existing research and requires them to develop their research questions into a final paper. In 2010, students in POLISCI 391BH went to polling places around Western Massachusetts to conduct the states only exit poll. Results of that poll are available on this website.
