Professor Bezanson Awarded Highest Honor by ISA-New England

Kristina Bezanson, certified arborist and coordinator for the Stockbridge associate degree program in Arboriculture and Community Forest Management, has been chosen to receive the coveted 2023 Dennis Ryan Award, granted by the International Society of Arboriculture's (ISA) New England chapter.

Bezanson coordinates both the on-campus and online Arboriculture programs at UMass Amherst, and also teaches several classes within the programs.

She teaches her Principles of Arboriculture course in three modalities—on-campus, online, and a new venture at the Mt. Ida campus, teaching students from marginalized communities to become arboriculture professionals, through the Power Corps Boston Apprentices job training program.

Bezanson holds several industry certifications recognizing her skills and experience.  She is both a Massachusetts Certified Arborist, and an ISA Board Master Certified Arborist, as well as a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor.  She also serves as Vice President and President-Elect of New England ISA.

After two short years, Stockbridge Arboriculture graduates are able to have their pick from multiple jobs seeking their skill sets in the tree industry.
