Course description:
To introduce the basic principles of soil science pertaining to cultural practices in turf, ornamental horticulture, forestry, and landscaping. This course focuses on practical applications rather than theoretical considerations. The aim is to familiarize the students with soil physical, chemical, and morphological soil properties that are important in each of the above listed applied fields.

 8   Soil organisms; soil organic matter
 9   Plant nutrients and nutrition
 10   Major nutrients and minor nutrients
 11   Soil sampling and soil testing; fertilizers
 12   Fertilizer terminology; organic amendments
 13   Tillage and cropping systems; soil survey
