Who we are

Under the guidance of Dr. Patty Freedson, we are a group of researchers interested in the field of physical activity and health. The focus of the research in our laboratory is improving measurement of physical activity using objective activity monitors. Ultimately, by improving our measures of physical activity we can improve our understanding of the impact of different amounts of physical activity on health. Recently, we have developed sophisticated statistical techniques to process accelerometer data and improve estimates of physical activity that is now being tested in free-living settings. We are also developing and testing a multi-sensor monitor through collaborations with other departments including engineering and statistics. For more information on each of the studies we are working on please click on the “research” tab.
