Our lab was selected to receive a large grant to invenstigate the reasons why people respond differently to exercise. To read the press release, click here.
We are now recruiting participants for the following research studies:
-
SNAP (Sedentary and Non-exercise Activity Prescription) - The SNAP study is currently enrolling participants. Email Sarah or call the lab at 413-585-1583 for more information. The purpose of the SNAP study is to determine if current technology can differentiate between time sitting and standing in everyday life. Subjects will be asked to wear activity monitors for two weeks, fill out surveys, and allow researchers to directly observe their free-living behavior. Potential participants must not be employed in a job that requires standing for long periods of time. Participants will be compensated for their time and effort.
-
SIT (Sedentary and Inactive Time) - We are currently enrolling male and female participants who are in good health and are between 12 and 75 years old for the SIT study. For more information, email Kristin or call the lab at 413-545-1583. The purpose of the SIT study is to develop a questionnaire that will help researchers determine how much time people spend in sedentary activites. Sedentary activites, such as sitting while watching TV, working on the computer, or doing deskwork, have been associated with negative health outsomes. Subjects will be asked to wear activity monitors, fill out surveys, answer questions in person or over the phone, and possibly allow researchers to directly observe their free-living behavior. Participants will be compensated for their time and effort.
