Collection Preparation

The primate and non-primate skeletal collections housed in the Morphometrics Lab are continually growing due to the generous donations of local zoos, universities, and research centers. Great care is given to ensure proper handling and preparation of these specimens. Each donated specimen is skeletonized via the use of dermestid beetles or chemical maceration. They are subsequently cleaned and added to the appropriate collection. Both the primate and non-primate collections are frequently used for research and teaching purposes.
