The Riparo Bombrini Project

The main goal of the Bombrini project has been to understand the nature of the transition between Middle Paleolithic (presumably Neandertal) and Upper Paleolithic (presumably modern humans), with several specific questions: When and how quickly did transition take place? What were the climatic/environmental conditions? Was there an overlap between the occupations of the site? What subsistence changes occurred at the transition? Besides resulting in answers to these questions, the Bombrini project has led to the development of long lasting collaboration and friendships between the members of the team, and we are now looking forth to our next project, which will also take place in Liguria.
